    So do these things happen year-round, or do they peak around this time of year?

  2. They occur year-round, but you cannot see them in Summer because it never gets dark in Summer! And our view does peak in Spring and Fall, because the North Pole is pointed away from the Sun in the Winter, so our view of solar-induced activities is cut off.
