It must be Spring!

The geese and swans have been returning! Big honking Vs in the sky! Honk-honk!

Not to mention... Hot Licks has opened their kiosk for summer! Yay!

    So, what, Fairbanks residents eat ice cream when the weather reaches a balmy 40 deg?

    The mosquitoes are out in full force around here. And we get a double whammy since we have a little stream running behind the backyard fence. But from what I understand, our mosquitoes down here are nothing. I read one article that advised Alaskans to exit their car and walk swiftly into the house, shutting the door immediately, lest a swarm of skeeters enter the building. Eeeyuck!
    Is there anything safer than Deet that you can use? That stuff is pretty toxic, isn't it?

  3. Fairbanks supposedly leads the nation in ice cream and coffee consumption per capita. Mmmmmm!!

    As for bug repellent, we use Burt's Bees' spray, which uses citronella and lemongrass. You end up smelling like a piece of grilled Thai chicken, but it's quite effective!
