Frost advisory
So now we have a frost advisory. Frost! We live in a strange place.
I dunno. I care less about the strawberries this year than the tomatoes, which have been full-size for a week but are still green. What gives? Maybe I'll bring them inside. My living room will look like a jungle.
I won't mention that my grape vines are starting to put out this years' leaves. Nope, I won't.
ReplyDeleteOh! What about your strawberries? Will you get any red ones this year? Can you just bring them inside?

ReplyDeleteYou haven't gotten your tomatoes in yet? Aaaagh!
ReplyDeleteDefinitely bring them inside - tomatoes are very sensitive to temps under 60/65.
But will the dogs nibble on the plants? My cousin's dogs will eat veggies plants like they're going out of style....
Make fried green tomatoes. I really like them. You can make a pan fried (as opposed to traditional deep fried version). They make tasty sandwiches.
ReplyDeleteI know I can still use green tomatoes, but it's still sad, after so much time and effort and hope, not to get a single damned red tomato. :(
ReplyDeleteI still have hope though. :)
I pickle some of the late season green ones, very easy and very tasty in the middle of "winter".
