A bored dog, a happy dog, and my last half cord of wood to split and stack for next Winter:
This one patch of my yard looks almost like I planned it, with these few rose stems above the little purple flowers:
It was too hot to heat up the kitchen in any way the other day, so I roasted potatoes by bringing the toaster oven outside:
Backed up, so you get the full effect. :)

My grandmother used to cook fish in the toaster oven outside. I like the idea of potatoes outside too.
I've often thought about building a solar oven or at least a solar dehydrator but I've never gotten around to it.
Hey, what are the blue flowers? They're not comfrey are they?
My biology friend tells me those are Northern Bluebells, native to this region and edible! So now I have another plant I can pretend I am growing deliberately in my American Meadow Garden. :)
In that little cabin lives my dearest little girl.
Northern Bluebells! I googled and found they are of the borage family (also related to comfrey which I first guessed). Borage grows wild in my garden and we eat the blue flowers - they taste of cucumbers. The borage family is also fantastic for breaking up clay soil with its long long taproot.
