Natural gas combustion--cleaner-burning, lower in CO2 emissions, but probably will only buy us another 50-60 years' energy supply....

Was the last picture from your cabin?

So our generation will see both the end of Moore's law and the end of easily-obtainable but non-renewable energy.
Do any of your lectures or slides end up online? It'd be neat to hear what you've been doing in the classrm...

@mdr, no; I don't have gas anything. I took that photo at the University power plant. They have four coal-fired boilers and one natural gas one.

Fairbanks doesn't have piped gas the way the Bay Area does. Whatever methane/propane appliances we have, we would have to have it delivered by tank or truck. My cabin came with a propane stove, and although I like cooking with gas, I traded it for an electric one because I didn't want to deal with it.

@Rena, not unless you are one of my students and have an account. I could dump them all in a dropbox folder for you though, if you're interested.

Hook me up, Professor Arvay! I totally want to read stuff about peak oil and the downfall of society and...doom...gloom...zombies.

No really, I'm serious - I'd love to learn more.

Emailed you a dropbox link.

Have fun, and please let me know if you find mistakes or inaccuracies, or if you have any suggestions or other feedback. Thanks!

Electric stove is smart. Glad that picture was not from your cabin.

Thank you, Rena.
