Last Saturday, I went to help staff a booth at Pet Awareness Day, a fundraiser for Companions, Inc, a volunteer organization via which people take their friendly, well-behaved dogs to provide doggy therapy at high-stress situations throughout Fairbanks (they deploy cuddle dogs on campus during finals week, for example).
Pet Awareness Day was heavily dog-focused, although they also had bunnies to pet. I'm frightened of bunnies, so avoid them. I can't believe they encourage children to pet and engage with the savage creatures! Anyway, I was also surprised at how many fancy purebred dogs were represented (Dachshunds, Poodles, Retrievers, Vizslas, Dalmatians, etc, etc). The ratio of fancy purebred to mutt dog was about 10:1, which is the opposite of that I witness throughout Alaska in general.
Anyway, there was also an Akita breeder there showing off her wares. How cute are they?!?
Schnozz-hance!

We need a poodle here, supposedly they don't shed nor cause allergy.
Aww, that's too bad about the rabbits. :(. None of mine have ever bitten a person, and all enjoy cuddling.
If you had asked I would have gladly let you meet mine, holding all pointy and possibly vicious aspects back. Or you could have pet the bag of wool from my molting satin angora. It's an experience, satin angora fiber is softer than silk.
@mdr, the poodles I met have been very nice!
@nightpaws, I'm (semi) joking. I had a bunny for 10 years who had a very nasty temper! But I also had a nice bunny, whom I picked out at the animal shelter based only on her sweetness. But Mr. Grumphypants has scarred me for life. You can see his photos on this blog, if you put "grumphus" into the search bar. It's a well-earned nickname. :)
