Starbuck sez, "Love comes from my eyes!"
Starlight is a border collie and super intense!
Hank is a sweet gentleman!
Love fest!
Steele is a HUGE malamute!
HUGE! I wanted to give him a big ol' hug, but he was too squirmy and wriggly... it's hard to remember he's still only 3 years old!

According to AKC.org, they ranked 100 species, Border Collie, Poodle, German Shepard ranks 1,2,3 respectively for their intelligence and training ability.
I can see border collie might be tense, too intelligent to not be aware..
Sirman dog would relax and enjoy.. Not a put down.
My friend who has 3 border collies also said that the dog looked stressed in the photos. Ever since knowing this friend, I have observed border collies. They are always very alert and driven, and always looking for their next command. They *do* look super smart!
CH said Cinnamon was dumb. I think both of you might be too young to know. Cinnamon is supposed to rank #2. Puppy (Maltese and Poodle mix) learned to use pee pad with no miss within one week of training, at 8 weeks of age. Knows to jump through a hula hoop (with reward) too.
mdr, I think you are taking dog intelligence rankings too seriously. It's all statistical. Like how Chinese are in general shorter than white people, and yet we have Yao Ming. :) Also, intelligence does not equal trainability. You say retrievers are not ranked very high in intelligence, yet they do police work, drug snuffing, avalanche rescue, service for blind, deaf, and other people who need help, the list goes on and on... I think it's because they love to please. If you ask a husky to fetch a ball, he'll look at you like, "Why should I?" :)
