On the transition from the Silicon to the Tanana Valley, from urban to rural life, and from working in industry to being a full-time student to working in academia. If you see your name or photo on this blog and want it removed, please let me know and I will do so!
Y'know, before I even opened the comments page I KNEW there was going to be a post from Mudder, saying "Hope you're not planning to do that crazy race!', and I KNEW there would be a reply from Arvay saying "Don't worry!" Well, it may not seem too funny to the two of you, but I'm laughing over here! What a cool article - it sounds like a once-in-a-lifetime job.
I think the reason that post is difficult to fill is logistical. Most mushers have their own teams, which they can't just leave to run and take care of this one. They also need a person with no spouse (unless the spouse is a house-spouse), no children, and no other career they'd feel bad abandoning.

Oh, thanks for that bit of advice. I had seriously been planning to. :)
Do you think I could telecommute?
I'll do it!
