Quantity over quality
That's the aurora we got last night. Huge, plain green ribbons that danced very little, but filled the sky and lasted for about an hour.

lovely! So how bright are they - is it like having headlights streaking through your curtains at night? Do they light up the road? Or is it more faint than that?
No, it's much more faint. But they move, and quickly! It's really like a light show! I guess the reason the light doesn't really illuminate anything on the ground is that it's more a glow than a shine. If that makes sense!
