The best cheeseburgers in the world

One of the greatest pleasures in not being a vegaquarian any more is the cheeseburger. All hail the cheeseburger. America still can't quite compete with France or Italy or Hong Kong for food, but we gave the world cheeseburgers and peanut butter, and for that, my stomach and I are eternally patriotic.

There are a lot of good cheeseburgers in Fairbanks. My two favorites are the Ivory Burger at Ivory Jack's, and the Carlburger, which my friend Carl makes whenever we have a cookout. He puts feta and cinnamon in them. Mmmmm.

But the best cheeseburger of my acquaintance is at Alice's Restaurant, on Skyline Boulevard and Woodside Road (highway 84). Sweet jeebus, do they make a good cheeseburger! And they also have several local beers on tap and proximity to San Gregorio State Beach, the most beautiful beach in California. Have you ever been to Alice's? If not, then you should go!

And that is today's post. An ode to the cheeseburger, in prose.

I've actually found the best burgers that I've had were in, of all places, Utah. They're so delicious, that the national chains like McDonalds and so on can't really get into the Salt Lake City market. I would never want to /live/ in Utah, but Apollo Burger and Crown Burger make some mighty tasty burgers.

Hmmm Currently watching a Burger Challenge on Food network.

However I for one am a big fan of the Western Bacon Cheeseburger or the InNOut Double Double "Animal Style".

Moving on to the more expensive Diner Burger, the Hula at Islands is quite wonderful. (Mushroom and Swiss Cheese).

However one can explore the Burger for all it's wonderfulness for quite some time...

This makes me hungry...

I almost wished for a moment I wasn't veggie then - have not had a cheeseburger since August 1997!

Veggie burgers are certainly getting better and better. I like the tofu ones and the black bean ones. I do NOT like the grain ones. They taste to me like a slice of bread. Now bread is not a bad thing, but a slice of bread in between two slices of bread? No, thank you!

Our family was visiting the biltmore
house and gardens in NC while on
vacation a few years ago, I think it
was in 05 or 04. Lost and trying to
find our way back to the inter state
we stumbled onto a little place
called kutchie's Key West. What we
found was a Real Jewel. Their cheeseburgers must be made in Heaven.
So tasty and juicy, the juice runs
down to your elbow. You can get them
rare, med rare, med anyway you like them. really odd these days
when every one else serves charcoal. They said they have been
there since 1976, I can tell why,
the World's Best Cheese Burgers
by far!!!
