Charms of Alaska, Item 832:
A colleague I barely know flies up from Anchorage for the day. He brings me these gorgeous carrots from his wife's garden:
Aahhhh... aren't they gorgeous? And isn't it a lovely life you live when colleagues bring you carrots?
White turnip is especially healthy. For beef soup, cook beef chunks (with some ginger slices and cooking wine) until soft, then add turnip till soft. Add salt and pepper to serve. Chinese said not good to cook white turnip together with carrots. I didn't know before :(
I put one of those and one of the red ones into a salad today--the white ones were bland; the red ones were delicious. The verdict--there's no need for white carrots. :)

Gorgeous! Makes me want to sow some carrot seeds...
Those aren't turnips! They are white carrots!
