First day of school!

My Facebook feed is full of parents showing off their kids' first day of school outfits. Here's mine:

I am teaching freshmen this year, so I'm setting different boundaries. I will be stricter and have them call me "Dr. Henson". I'm also trying to dress more "professionally" for as long as I can. I'm not sure if I can keep this part up all semester though. Two days a week of dressing semi-nicely is a nontrivial burden to me.

Although I sure love my pretty boots!

Also, I lovelovelove that my seniors feel comfortable around me and call me "Arvay". But, different boundaries for different ages!

Edited to add: WOW! A double rainbow just appeared outside my office window!

And in the time it took me to walk up and down the hallway and make sure my coworkers in the same hallway appreciated it, and then return here, the sky has cleared up:

Congratulations on the first day of school! I hope you get some awesome students. What's your courseload look like this year?

Dr Henson...In my mind you'll always be Arvay, who loves her fuzzies (almost) more than I love my furball, Loki.
Good luck!

Very professional! What class on you teaching?
Biscotti making!

@Allmycke, Dr. Henson loves her fuzzies, too!

@ch, let's see if I can keep up "very professional" every Mon and Wed until December! I am teaching the intro to engineering that cross-trains freshmen in ME, EE, and CE. The biscotti recipe is from the Joy of Cooking; I just add frozen wild Alaskan berries and orange zest for cranberry, or lemon zest for blueberry. I'll have to send you blueberry next... the trick is the berries have to be frozen so you can fold them into the dough without crushing them!

My girl looks the BEST....
As for the outfit, the blue turquoise necklace made it lively, and highlighted the entire outfit.
