Yeti! Sasquatch!

Any wildlife biology readers? What the heck made these tracks?

It has well-defined, furless toes and walks with its heels down! That's not like any dog or wild animal around here!

This is its gait:

It's like it walks like a bunny, with its back feet side by side and landing at the same time. And where are the front feet?

Here is what its print looks like in deep snow:

Here I happened to catch Autumn's foot, which makes a good comparison. Dogs walk on their toes, so they sink in deeper, and their feet are furry, so they don't leave such pronounced toe outlines.

What is it? What is it?

In other news, I helped to judge the Homeschool Science Fair today. It was cute. The kids were a pretty smart crowd. Anyway, check out this one photo this one girl had in her poster:

I literally laughed out loud when I saw that. Huskies are like that. When you have a husky, you have a husky all the time, even in situations where a dog is neither necessary nor useful. :)

Then this other kid did a project on ants. Check out these little fuzzy props! Cute or what? I love that they have little personalities. :)

That's weird! It looks like there aren't any front footprints. Am I missing something?

Duh. I'm stupid today. I did find a photo of jackrabbit tracks that look a lot like yours. Will email link.

They look deep, though. As deep as the doggie's prints? How heavy are jackrabbits?
That's wacked out, Daisy. Perhaps you have Yetis in your backyard!

Duck? Duck? Goose? Do they have such birdies in Alaska?

Its something that hops, for sure. The feet are right next to each other, with no front (or back) tracks. Even ducks waddle with a one foot in front of the other type gait. Weird. Who knows what this is. Keep your camera handy!

The part about the husky snout totally made me laugh. So cute!

Whatever foot prints they were, they were from "heavy and big" animals, because the prints were deep and clear, comparing with Autumn's. Bear? Moose? Please be careful, what else can I say? I can only pray for your safety.

Moose have hooves and walk like a horse. This thing has paws and walks like a rabbit. :)

Bears, also, do not hop.
