It's snowing!

Yay! The far-below-normal snow year was topped off by a freakish warm spell that threatened what little snow we had! But now it's snowing again! Yay! Keep coming, snow!

In other news, yesterday was a great day on the cuteness front. After meeting the new behbeh goats, I went to Alaska Feed for eggs and dog food and met this:

A Bernese Mountain Pup! AWWWWWW!!!

That redefines cuteness. Forever. OMG.

I've heard they basically ignore livestock and therefore would make a good addition to a houseful of rabbits. I wants one. Though, I imagine around here it would be a shedding nightmare. :( Mr. Bun's output of fur is bad enough.

I think you need a BMD AND a goat. :)

I've heard that BMDs have a heartbreakingly short life span. :(

As for me, I think my current animal number is just fine. :)

Whenever the animal counts is more than the human counts in the household means too many animals

I disagree!

My rule is for every N responsible humans:

1) a maximum of N+1 species, and

2) a maximum of N+1 of each species

So I can have up to two species and two of each. I was maxed out with two wabbits and two dogs. In theory, I could get another wabbit, but I wouldn't like that!

But by your algorithm, our household of 4 people would be eligible for:
5 species * 5 per species.

that's toooooo many animals for us! As in, that's too much hair and poo to clean up after.
Now, I've always wanted a few laying hens and a beehive and a dog. But I have enough to take care of right now.

Only 5 bees are permitted. :)

Rena, you missed the "responsible" part. I said "responsible humans". Your kids, as cute and lovely as they are, cannot possibly be responsible for pets. So you are eligible for one, two, three! THREE pets! Ah, ah, ah!

Actually, your kids might well count as pets... they are cute, cuddly, and fuzzy-headed, and they suck up a lot of your time. So you only get two more species. :)

I guess bees and fish should count as one collective item. So you can have up to three hives or three tanks. ;)

Oh dear, we have way to many animals then!
