Hot

Yesterday was the hottest day in Fairbanks in 15 years.

I'll confess I'm not exactly comfortable, being dusty and sweaty and all, but I'm pleased that my garden is doing so well. My squashes are exploding, my basil is delicious, and I have my first green tomatoes.

90 degree is terrible. We sometimes have that temperature here. Stay in school and shower more.
Hydrate yourself often.

I am having a difficult time keeping up with my vow, made during last Summer's ceaseless rain, never to complain about heat in Fairbanks again. My garden helps, because I know that it owes its productivity to the heat!

Chinese says nothing is all perfect and nothing is all bad. Heat brings you harvest, rain eliminates mosquito eggs.

Hm... I still haven't made up my mind about the relationship between rain and mosquitoes. Rain makes the current mosquitoes go away, but I think after the rain stops, the mosquitoes are worse the next few days, when there are puddles!

Because mosquitos are soooo tough, many eggs die in the rain, but the remaining reproduce fast. Come back when you have enough of them.
