Part I here. Part III here.
At one trail intersection, there was a map. Check it out:
Bitch Creek! HAHAHAHAHAHAA!!
Another creek crossing:
We bumped into another group of through hikers who had a silly lab who played in all of the creeks, standing in the current and snapping at it like a bear catching salmon:
The trail was exceedingly well marked; not only was the trail obviously worn, but cairns were obvious and frequent:
The girls were very happy:
Some of the cairns were a little unconventional. :)
There was not a moment when views were not breathtaking:
We passed some wind-sculpted rocks:
And then a trail led down...:
... to a whole wall of them:
We took a break for lunch on the leeward side of that rock wall, and the girls cuddled:
Pond in the valley below:
The valley floor was damp and warm, like a temperate rain forest:
As we climbed the opposite side of the valley, the lunch spot receded into the distance:
Climb, climb, climb:
Finally, we reached the opposite ridge to the picturesque Skinny Lake:
Autumn blends in very beautifully among her namesake colors!
Skinny Lake on closer approach:
And here is a photo from my commute this morning. Fall is coming to da hood:

Beautiful pics! That black dog has a doggie backpack! :)
Did I ever give you my doggie backpack? I sort of remember that I did. You should be using it!
Loving the hiking pictures/stories - you're making me want to visit.
Oh, and I saw this and thought of you lol http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14842999
b: Yup, you did, but the girls like to dart around so much, I don't want to take away their freedom. They don't eat much, so their food weighs very little.
Debs: LOL! That hit the San Francisco press as well. :)
They can't dart around with backpacks? I think you can put a lot more than just dog food in there - they can carry stuff for you too - like that big book! You're nicer to your dogs than to yourself!
